Taster Sessions (Online)
Would you like to try your hand as NATO secretary general, or maybe take your seat around the UK cabinet table at a time of national crisis? Or how about playing the role of chief engineer or lead pilot for a Mars mission?
Our ninety minute taster sessions offer an opportunity for students, (and even parents) to get a short introduction to the experiential learning which is central to our events.
Academic content is really brought to life when students have the chance to see the theories and ideas they have studied in action. Standing in the shoes of decision-makers, planners and policy-shapers makes it all feel real, and allows students to connect emotionally as well as intellectually to the stories which they craft together.
When we speak with former students months, or even years, after they have attended a course, these are the elements which are most likely to stick with them, and which they often cite as a turning point in their academic and professional journey. Capturing the imagination is so often the key to inspiration.
Plus, taking part in a Mars mission simulation, or trying your hand at managing an international crisis from NATO Headquarters, or with the Chinese Politburo, is a lot of fun!
We will be running online taster sessions in April and May of this year, with sessions both for adults and for school age students. There will be a small cost to take part in these taster events, but if you go ahead and book a summer course then that cost will be deducted from the course fees.
Please note that these will be intensive small group activities, just like our summer events, so come prepared to speak up and get involved!
Express your interest to be the first to hear when dates for these sessions are announced.

‘I originally booked the Summer School based on other people’s recommendations and was initially very nervous! However, it exceeded all of my expectations. It was truly one of the most fun and interesting weeks I’ve ever had, and has refined my debating skills, given me greater confidence in my opinions, and I also managed to make some great new friends.’
