Teach With Us at Debate Chamber

Thinking About Becoming a Debate Chamber Tutor?

Work with incredible students

Our courses attract bright, motivated students who are genuinely passionate about their subjects. They thrive on academic challenges and enjoy lively, thoughtful discussions. Expect a classroom atmosphere that’s engaging, good-natured, and full of fresh ideas.

Teach for the love of learning

Unlike traditional tutoring companies, we don’t focus on exam prep or interview coaching. Instead, we create space for students to explore their subjects in depth—beyond the school curriculum. We encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and open-ended discussions, helping students grow in confidence as they engage with big ideas.

Be part of a supportive and friendly team

From well-structured lesson plans to help setting up materials on the day, our support team makes sure you can focus 100% on teaching. You’ll also be working alongside like-minded, inspiring tutors, making for a welcoming and engaging staff room atmosphere.

Enjoy the best of both worlds

We provide detailed lesson plans and high-quality materials, but we also value your expertise. Our tutors are encouraged to bring their own teaching style to the classroom and respond to students’ interests, creating a dynamic and flexible learning experience.

Make a lasting impact

For over 20 years, Debate Chamber has grown through enthusiastic student recommendations and strong relationships with schools. Many of our tutors find the experience deeply rewarding—not just for the teaching itself, but for the impact they have on students’ academic journeys.

What We Look For in Our Tutors

Young smiling cheerful woman holding her resumeDeep subject knowledge & academic excellence

A strong degree from a top university (in a relevant subject) is essential. A postgraduate qualification and/or relevant work experience is preferred. Most of our tutors are in postgraduate study and looking for summer or supplementary work.

A genuine passion for your subject

We want tutors who love what they teach and are excited to share that enthusiasm with students.

Exceptional communication skills

The ability to explain complex ideas clearly, adapt your teaching style, and engage students in meaningful discussion.

A talent for building an inclusive, collaborative classroom

We place a strong emphasis on creating a welcoming space where students from diverse backgrounds feel confident contributing. The ability to encourage teamwork and shared exploration is key.
