Mathematics Summer School
Maths Summer School
“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty… capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show.”
Bertrand Russell
The Mathematics Summer School invites ambitious students to engage with some of the most important ideas in modern mathematics. Each online course follows a structured three-day programme, led by expert tutors, combining rigorous problem-solving with the study of underlying mathematical structures and methods. Mornings typically focus on developing core ideas and methods, while afternoons explore these through structured problems and examples.
Mathematics Summer School – Part 1 focuses on Algebra, Modular Arithmetic, Algorithms and Cryptography and is open to students aged 15-18.
See a detailed outline for Part 1 of the Mathematics Summer School here.
Mathematics Summer School – Part 2 focuses on Differential Equations, Calculus, Proofs and Infinities and requires that students have completed a minimum of one year of A-level study in Mathematics (or equivalent) at the time of the course.
See a detailed outline for Part 2 of the Mathematics Summer School here.
While the two courses complement each other, they are independent – Part 1 is open to GCSE and A Level students, while Part 2, designed for those with at least one year of A Level Maths, introduces an undergraduate-style approach that bridges the gap between school and university.
With small online classes of eight to twelve students, this programme creates a dynamic and interactive environment for students who enjoy mathematical problem-solving and are keen to engage with challenging new ideas. This Summer School is perfect for students who are passionate about mathematics and eager to take their understanding further – whether they’re considering studying it at university or exploring its connections to fields like physics, computing, or engineering.
The tutors for this course are selected for their exceptional communication skills, outstanding academic record, and passion for mathematics – you can see our tutors page for some example profiles.
If you’re eager to deepen your mathematical understanding and engage with more abstract and demanding ideas then this is the course for you.
