DESCRIPTION:The Philosophy Summer School will tackle some of the really big questions – the nature of knowledge itself\, how we perceive and understand the world around us\, what is the meaning of our lives\, what\, if anything\, happens when they are over\, what are key moral values such as justice and fairness that we try to live our lives by\, what is beauty in art and what is its appropriate role in society\, what is the relationship between consciousness and action? We will engage in lively seminar discussions\, close textual analysis and exegesis (critical explanation and interpretation of a text)\, use thought experiments to isolate philosophical intuitions and ideas\, and explore our own and others attempted solutions to philosophical problems.
